Gene arrived in Warner Robins Sunday,
Dec 10, 2000 to begin his work as the pulpit minister for
the Warner Robins Church of Christ. His first Sunday in the
pulpit was the following Sunday (Dec 17).
Gene was born in Pittsfield, Illinois
in 1944. After graduating from high school he attended
Freed-Hardeman College and Western Illinois University. He
moved to Warner Robins, GA for the first time in 1966. In
1976, after working several different jobs, he entered the
East Tennessee School of Preaching. After graduating, he
worked with the Barnesville Church of Christ until 1979,
when he left to work with the church in Salem, Virginia. In
1987, he moved from Salem to work with the Midway Church of
Christ in Sarasota Florida. He worked with that congregation
until December of 2000. During the time he worked with
Midway, he taught in the Florida School of Preaching and
served on the board of directors of the school.
Gene has continued his education
through the Theological University of America and holds a
BA, MA, and Doctor of Ministry degree from the institution.
Gene is married to the former Sandra Furline, and together
they have three children and four grandchildren.
